Being left in front of an orphanage is no easy thing. Meeting new people was difficult, especially for children who don`t like to talk or those who feel as if they speak a different language from their peers. A child who grows up in an orphanage does not see their parents and so she too never learned what parental love was. Why her? Every day she waited for a new call or perhaps the return of her parents. Her life was hard, and she knew it herself. At that age, she knew and learned a lot. She was not the only one, but she stood out in the orphanage because of her intelligence, silence and solitude.
To escape reality and to protect herself from the dangerous, cruel world, she believed that the world wasn`t real. She tought all of this was just someone else`s dream or an illusion. The colours were too bright, people acted as if they were just performing, and feelings seemed fake. Because of that, everything around her felt unreal. People were telling her she was making up nonsense and that the world was real and full of joy and happiness. She would just smile and nod; it was easier to agree than to explain how she actually felt. To her, everything seemed like a movie of some kind of a long book instead of actual "life". She knew she herself was part of that movie or book. That was how she wanted to live - without reactions or feellings. Most of all, she didn`t like to think about love; it didn`t mean much to her. She thought everyone is out of their minds for believing in such nonsense. Until one day, something changed.
She was standing on the sidewalk, waiting for the red light to turn green. When the green light finally appeared, a young man started crossing the street. Some cars were still passing by. Suddenly, a loud scream was heard. A car was racing like lightning. Without thinking, she knew what to do - run! She grabbed the young man firmly by the arm and pushed him forward. She fell on the crosswalk and felt a sharp, strong pain in her abdomen. Her heart was pounding. The boy looked at her with his big, scared eyes and asked, "Are you okey?" In that moment she realized something important. This was no longer someone else`s dream. This was reality. She felt pain, fear, sadness, but most importantly, for the first time, she felt that one stupid word she hated so much - "life". In dreams, you are never hurt, and you never feel anything, do you? If this is reality then maybe life is really worth living.
For the first time in months - years - she wanted to wake up tomorrow with a smile, full of joy. From that day on, she began to see the world with different eyes. She started noticing more and more details that brought her joy, but she was the happiest when she once again saw the young man whose life she had saved. The young man told her that he had been looking for her for months and that he never stopped thinking about her. Over time, they began seeing each other more often and eventually fell in love. To this day, they still live together and love each other more and more.
