It was a cold winter morning, snow was falling and kids were making their way to school. The frozen sidewalks made it hard to walk on, and they were very slippery. Through the walk we noticed that different feeling in the air. That chilling feeling felt unusual, like from the movies. Cars were parked and tree branches were still, even though it was very windy. Me and my group of friends were confused why is the weather like that, but we didn't think much of it. While what we didn't know was that this day would change our lives.
As we were walking next to a hill my friend noticed weird sounds coming from a nearby cave. She suggested to explore what was making the sound. All of us agreed, except Lucas. He was terrified of darkness and tight spaces, he was pacing around thinking. Should he go or not? Somehow after 15 minutes of convincing, he finally agreed to go with us. We dumped our bags at our friends grandma's house, and quickly came to the hill. We had find the entrance to the cave. It was well hidden, but eventually, we found it. Jacob wanted to go in first, even though he was the youngest of us all. We never knew he was brave enough to go first. As we stepped in the ethereal look of the cave amazed us. We saw a lot of fossils, dead animals and remains of cave divers that tried to explore the cave, but failed. Our expedition started. At first we weren't seeing anything that could make that screeching sound. It was a bit boring. We were walking deeper and deeper into the cave, until we fount ourselves in pure darkness. Thankfully my cousin Greta had a bright flashlight. It was very handful since we couldn't see a thing without it. I was the tallest and oldest in the group, so I hit my head on the ceiling of the cave many times. But this time, I didn't hit the ceiling, it was something soft. I didn't notice until Lucas was staring at me and being all pale from fear. I didn't hit a rock or anything like that, I bumped my head in a bat. And there he was sleeping on my head. He got so terrified that he slapped the poor bat off of my head. That was a big mistake, because that awakened millions of bats around us. All four of us screamed in fear. I quickly pulled three of my friends down to the floor. Luckily none of us got hit by the bats. It was cool and steamy inside, and we were already lost in the caves. We were already tired of walking, so we sat down on a rock. We were sitting there for a while. That's when we heard that soft screeching sound that was echoing trough the caves. We quickly got up and headed straight to the source of the sound. We came across a large opening. It was amazing. Beautiful multicolored crystals were spread on the walls, and glowing berries were hanging off the ceiling. The mystical look of the cave was gorgeous. Beautiful big pink lilies were covering the whole ground. Peach and cherry blossom trees were growing from the small water pools. There was also a massive mother tree in the center on the cave. The water was a nice cyan color, and it was drinkable. We noticed a cute looking cottage buried deep into the lush forest. There was light inside the house, so we went to see if anybody was alive inside. I knocked on the door and a guy our age opened it. We recognized each other in a blink. It was Evan. He was my class mate and best friend a few years ago, until he want missing. Tears flew across out cheeks as we hugged tightly. He told us that he found the cave and wanted to see whats inside. He was ten at that time. When he was very deep in the cave he got tired and decided to stay there. When he woke up he didn't know the way back home. He told us that dragons exist ant that they live in this cave. We thought that all that time he spent here made him crazy. Until we heard the soft screeching coming from behind. We turned around to see a shocking view. A giant, mystic dragon was standing in front of us. Lucas almost fainted from fear. The dragon looked divine. She was a beautiful soft pink color with gorgeous lilies covering her back. We didn't notice her at first because she was well camouflaged with the cherry blossom trees. Evan told us that she was with him since he got lost here. It looked like she already loved us. We looked up just to find ourselves surrounded by dragons. All of them were very similar to her, the only difference was that they were different colors. She was the biggest of them all, so we assumed she was their mother. We heard footsteps in the lush leaves. I headed towards them and spaced out the leaves just to find my classmate. He was following us into the cave and got terrified of the dragons. His name was Tin and he was always rude and picking on me and my friends. Before he could say something mean to me he got eaten by the dragon. We were all shocked. It was visible that she knew that Tin was a bully. After that Lucas was a little sad because Tin was his step-cousin, but he recovered fast because Evan offered us peach brownies. We ate them in a blink. Hours passed and we played with the dragons. Evan suggested we should stay the night because it was already too late, and we would get lost on the way out. In the morning all five of us ate breakfast. After the breakfast we said our goodbyes. Evan stayed in his cottage while we headed out of the caves.
Months have passed and we still visit Evan and his dragons in the cave. Every day after school we hang out with Evan for hours and at the same time we get to know different species of dragons. Nobody knows about that cave and the dragons except us, and we will keep it that way.
