"Olivia Bexley, please report to the principal's office." -said the principal's assistent. I froze. Everyone was looking at me. Everyone was whispering and trying to guess what I did. I looked at my teacher who just nodded for me to go. My heart was pumping fast as my footsteps cracked the silence in the hall. I finally arrived and as I was about to knock, someone approached me.
"Olivia Bexley?" -the mysterios figure asked. I tried to remember every gangster movie that I watched and after a few moments of akward silence I spited out-"W-who's asking...?" The figure just looked at me, he could probably tell that I was just a kid who is trying so hard not to scream! "Olivia Bexley, please report to the principal's office"-assistent said again, harsher than before. I turned to the figure and said firmly- "Look buddy, I don't know who you are, but if I'm not in trouble I definitely will be if I don't show up soon to the principal's office. So I would kindly suggest to you to just lea-" "It's more important than whatever the principal wants from you."-he interupted me. "Olivia. Bexley. Please report-" I opened the door before she could finish. "I'm sorry I'm late Ms., I was just...at the toilet." She looked at me under the eye as I closed the door behind me and at the same time leaving the mystery behind too. The assistent followed my every move with her gaze. I was trying to avoid her as I was playing with a strand of my hair waiting nervously for the principal herself to arrive. How about some facts about the school while we wait? This school was built in the Victorian era, some say that Queen Victoria's son went here when the school was just built. But it's nothing fancy, it's a public school too. So, the legend goes that the janitor was a pirate that wanted the gold from Queen Victoria. He stole the gold and burried it somewhere in the school grounds. By the way, it's fake. How do I know? Trust me, a lot of guys checked and no one found the gold. As for the prince? He never returned to this school after that incident. Why is this relevant? The janitor was principal's great-great-great...grandfather. Everyone who gets themselves in this office gets-". A loud thud of the doors hitting the wall ringed in my head like a doorbell on my house. Gosh I wish that I was at home now instead of here. As I walked into her office her tall figure was everything but unnoticeable. She was very tall and slim. She always had her hair up in a slick bun. Her red glasses complimenting her light brown eyes. She sat down at her long wooden desk as she signaled me to sit down on a chair in front of her. "Tell me Olivia, do you know why you are here today?"-she asked me like she expected me to know. I have never been called here before and I really tryed not to be. "N-no. Why did you call me?"-she looked at me, then smiled. "Alright then, but I know that you know what happened to the secret hidden gold. Isn't that right?" "I know just as much as any other student does. It is hidden, and no one found it. That's it." I know that I love mysteries but I don't know anything else about it. "So you know just this information?" -she asked again to be 100 per cent sure. "Yes" I said confidently. "How about you help me find it?" I wasn't sure what to say, but I honestly grew more curious now that the principal herself wants it. "Um...sure!" I wasn't very thrilled to work with someone like her but I never say no to mysteries. The night has fallen, but no one was asleep. I went down to the kitchen and said to my mom that I'm going treasure hunting with the principal. She was a bit shocked but said to bring a shovel with me, so I did. As I was walking down the street, I noticed a familiar black figure hiding behind the street lamp. "What do you want again?" I was getting angry at this guy. "I want to help you out. The gold is not where you think it is. It's in the city museum."-he said. "Aha, and why should I take your word for it?" I didn't even know who this is. What if it's a trap? "Trust me. Not her." With that he left, just as the principal came. "Are you ready?" We started to dig around the school again but like every time before this, there was nothing. As I was digging a question appeared in my mind. "Ms., why exactly are you interested in this gold now? Why didn't you want to search for it before?" She looked at me then said-"That is non of your concern, now keep digging." After few hours I was preparing to go home but then I remembered what the figure has told me. The city museum is not big, we only have a few paintings but they are just copies of the originals. Few guys tried to steal it like 5 times! But everytime they were caught and we found out that the paintings are fake. How can a treasure so valuable be in a place like that? But I was getting impatient so I suggested it anyways. "You know Ms., we should check behind the museum." She looked at me weirdly. "Why?"-she asked almost disgusted by my suggestion. "No one ever looked there and it is a museum, and museums are known for their valuables, are they not" She stopped to think about it. "I suppose." When we got there we started digging holes in the back of the museum. But there was nothing. "I told you that there is nothing here." -she said while walking away. "Where are you going Ms.?" I asked a bit scared. "On a break. Stay here." I sat down on the kerb when I heard something in the bushes. I approached cautiously. Then the same masked guy jumps out of it. "What are you doing here?" I asked angrly. "Helping you out." -he said smiling. "There is nothing here! You said that the gold is here!" I said loudly. "No, I said that the gold is in the museum, not at the back. Oh no! She's coming. Just remember, think outside the 'box'." -he said it with a wink and then disappeared again. "You can go home now. We will keep searching tomorow." -the principal said tiredly. I pretended to leave but when I made sure that she was gone I came back. This time, inside the museum. It was late but there is no security because the paintings are just copies. I started looking but there was nothing unusual. I stopped and looked at the painting everyone wanted to steal. It was nothing special, really. It was just a lady that was smiling and holding some flowers. As I was about to leave I remembered what the guy told me. To think outside the box. And he winked after he said 'box'. I looked at the painting again, no, not the painting itself, the frame. The frame was metal with fine details carved into it. Then it clicked. The frame was what everyone wanted, not the painting. The old janitor probably melted the gold into it so no one could find it, only those who were highly educated could recognise it. And since the prince left the town completely, he didn't need to worry about them finding it. As I was holding the painting the principal came running from the back as she tried to snatch the painting from my hands. "Give me that!" -she yelled. "No! This isn't yours to begin with! Your great-great-great...grandpa stole it from the royal family!" In that moment the mystery guy showed up. "Stop! Please, let me fill you in for what happened. Let's start with my identity." He took his mask off revealing his face and hair. "I'm prince's great-great-great...grandson. My father told me the same story so I had to come and check it out, then I came across the same school that Queen's son went to. I noticed this museum and this particular painting on the wall. I recognised the janitor's simbol. I hired those guys to steal it for me but they were unsucssesful in it. I needed someone who is more interested in revealing the truth than those guys. I have been watching students attend this school in hopes of finding someone like that. Then one day, I overheard you talking to your friend about the gold, you said that it's fake but that you would like to find it if it's real. I knew that you were the right one for this job. I tried to sneak a note in your backpack so no one would notice me but I coudn't do it, and then the principal called you. I knew that she saw me walking around, I had to think quickly so I just had to straight up come to you and say it but you went inside before I could." The principal was very annoyed at this but still tried to explain her side of the story. "You wanted to know why I was interested in this gold now?!", she yelled, "Because of him. I knew that one day someone will come looking for the gold, I just didn't know who. So now when I knew who it is, I wanted to get to the gold before him. And yes, I did see him trying to get to you, Olivia. So I called you in before he could say something to you." The prince was not very happy that she tried to stop him so he called the police officers who were waiting outside. "I will make sure that you get what you deserve, and that is jail. As for you, young lady, I will share my treasure that you gave me back." All this was very confusing to say at least but one question stayed unansweard. "But why did you hire those dudes to steal it for you? You are the rightful owner of the treasure." He looked a bit emberessed. "I didn't want any attention, at least not yet. If I went here and said that I am the prince, many wouldn't believe me and maybe someone would caught onto it and tried to steal it for themselves." The police came in and took her to jail. As for me?
Well I got half of the treasure and a new friend. I present to you, prince Secretum the First! Wow, this day really changed my life. I met the prince, I found the hidden mystery gold and got called into the principal's office for the first time. I'm very popular now in my school and on the news. I even have my own blog where I write stories about the mysteries and secrets! And no, I'm not living in the castle now, but we are renovating the house. So I guess this really was the day that changed everything.
