Bobi

It all started years ago. At the age of two I meet a dog that taught me what true friendship looked like. He was my grandma's dog, a tornjak named Bobi. I used to cuddle, run, laugh, cry and play with him all day long. Because of him my obssesion with dogs started. Two years after my grandpa died, so did Bobi. At the age of four I had neither a grandfather nor Bobi. Althought I was a child, I remember him very well and he will always stay in my memories. When I was seven years old I started asking my parents for a dog. Every month, birthday and year I always asked the same question: "Can I get a dog?". Sadly every year the answer was the same. Until the 7th grade my parents didn't let me have a dog. When I was 13 I begged them almost every day. They refused, but they were actually thinking about it. I told them i would walk, feed, train and basically do everything around him. That one morning I woke up differently. I was happier than before. Once I heard that doorbell ring, I was filled with excitement. At the front door there he was. I was never so happy for a day in my life. He was so chubby and cute that I couldn't believe it. And that was the day that changed my life. I named him Bobi, in honor of the first dog I loved. Every day till now has been an adventure. At first I regretted having him. I thought he was too much to handle and that I wouldn't have a normal life anymore. Little did I know, he only made it better. It was really challenging the first few weeks, because you have to establish rules in the first couple of days to have a successful puppy. Before getting him I researched the best breed for me and my lifestyle. I ended up getting a toy poodle. It is a healthy breed, good with kids and other dogs and not so energetic. He really changed me as a person. Before him my life wasn't organised. He taught me to have a routine. Now I'm more organised with school, training and everyday life. He also taught me to be responsible and patient. Every day with him has taught both of us important things in life. I also liked him more than any friend I had, because he wouldl never leave my side and would always love me. The first month I had him was the most challenging, but also the most interesting. I signed him up for a puppy school. It was a good and fun way for him to meet other dogs and learn to work with me. For now he knows a lot of tricks, for example sit, lay down, figure eight between my legs, focus , give paw, give a high five, be in a heel position and a lot more stuff. While training him our bond grew even bigger. In a couple of months I would like to start training him agility. I think it is a really fun experience for him, but also for me. Now he only knows the basics, but if he learns more in the future I might start competing with him. On the weekends we like to go for long walks in nature with my friends. Bobi really enjoys every walk like this, because we get a lot of training done, he meets other dogs and it really tires him out. Our most scary, but also the most exciting walk was few weeks ago. We went for a walk with my friends at 8 p.m. We went near to thr river Drava and started walking in complete darkness. My friend Borna had a really strong flashlight and night vision goggles so we could basically see everyone around us. It all started normally as always. Suddenly Borna heard laughter. We really didnt't think much of it and went on with our walk. All of a sudden I see somebody somebody running out of the forest laughing and coming straight towards us. We ran as fast as we could and Bobi was able to keep up with us. That man was following us for about 300 meters. We got under a bridge and decided what would be the best thing to do in this situation. Our only options were to go the way we came from, to walk for another two kilometers, or to go through a dark, muddy road along the forest. We thought the best option was probably to go the same way we came from. We started walking down the same way, until I saw a dark figure standing in front of us. I started panicking and thought this was the end to my childhood. We ran to the same bridge as before. At the end Borna called his dad to come pick us up. For Bobi this was just a fun walk. I can't even imagine what would happen if things turned out differently. After that incident we went there almost every week. Luckily nothing strange happened. Bobi also experienced summer with me and my family at the sea. It was a really fun experience for him. He woke up everyday happy, knowing he will spend this day at the dog beach enjoying sun, swimming and playingwith other dogs. Even though it was really hot, summer is one of my best memories with Bobi. I think he really enjoys my lifestyle. My life is full of adventures and with Bobi it is even better. I also enjoy fishing with my friends. When it gets warmer I might as well take Bobi with me. I think he will like swimming in the lake, but mostly enjoy the nature. Now in winter he spends most of his day inside playing with toys. In the future I would maybe like to get another dog, but for now Bobi is all I need and all I ever wanted.
