Almost every day in our lives seems the same. We wake up, eat something, go to school, do our homework, and go to sleep. Most of those days are the same and really easy to forget. Nothing special happens. But sometimes there comes one special day and changes everything, and it's not that hard to forget it. For me it was this one special spring day. It was Monday, a school day. I woke up at 6.30 am, it was really hard for me to get out of my warm bed, dress up and go to school, but somehow, I did it. I brushed my teeth, packed up my bag, and went to school. It was very cloudy day outside. I remember feeling happy because school is almost over, and I was so excited to go out with my friends that evening. After the last lesson, we all ran out of the school building, laughing and talking loudly. I was on my way home when I spotted that small shop near my house, I decided to stop and buy some snacks. While I was walking inside, I noticed something on the floor near the door. It was someone's wallet. At first, I thought it belonged to someone who worked in a shop. But no one was looking for it. I decided to open it. It was full of money, cards, and documents. I don't know why, but my heart started beating faster than ever. There were a thousand thoughts in my head. I didn't know what to do. I decided to open a wallet once more I saw a picture of an old man. I paid for my snack and left a shop, still holding that old man's wallet in my hand. I knew I needed to decide what to do with it. I have never been in a situation like this, so I was nervous and confused. I decided to do an only right thing that I could do, and it's to return it to old man. When I got home, I decided to tell my parents what had happened. To my surprise, they listened carefully. They told me I did a right thing to keep it and give it back to old man. We looked at address on his card and realized that the man lived not so far away. My dad and I decided to return that card together. As my dad drove us closer to the old man's house, I felt that nervous feeling again. I didn't know if that man would believe me, and if I really did the right thing. We came in front of his house, and I didn't want to go, I was so scared. My dad told me to listen to my heart, so I did, I gathered my courage and walked up to his door. My dad rang the doorbell. An old man, just like from an ID card picture, opened the door. He looked tired and worried. I knew why. He was worried about his wallet. I handed him his wallet and asked, “Is this your sir?” I saw that face that shone like never before, and those eyes full of sparkle and hope. He nodded and said: “Yes, yes oh my God it is! Where did you find it?”. I explained the whole situation to him, trying not to sound nervous. The old man was listening so carefully, holding his wallet tightly in his hands, as if he was afraid, it might disappear again. As I finished talking, I could hear him take a long sigh of relief. He told my dad and me that the wallet meant more to him than just money. Inside were old photographs of his wife, important documents, and a small note she had written to himmany years ago before she passed away. When I heard that my heart was beating even faster than the first time, I was standing in the middle of that shop holding that wallet and didn't know what to do. And I knew that the decision I made was right, and maybe one of the smartest decisions of my life. Then that old man invited my dad and me inside of his small apartment. It was small but cozy, and enough for him because he was leaving alone. His walls were covered with pictures of him, his wife, and their dog. I asked about their dog, he told me that he died a year ago, and that he was his only friend because the old man was new in this town and didn't have many friends. As we sat on his couch, he started telling us stories about his life, family, and how the world used to be different. I listened carefully. Then he looked at me, smiled kindly, and thanked me once again. He said that he was sure if someone else found his wallet that they would keep it and not return it to him. I was so proud of myself. I realized that being kind is not always so easy but is always worth it. Before we left, the old man insisted on giving me a small gift to award me for returning him his wallet. I politely refused at first, but he placed a small chocolate bar into my pocket and said it was a gift from him and his heart. I accepted it with a smile. We left his house. When my dad and I sat in the car, he said that he was so proud of me, and it meant more to me than anything else. We came home I hugged my mom, the feeling of nervousness was now replaced with a feeling of happiness. I looked out of the window in my room, watched the streets pass by, and thought about how one small decision could change an ordinary day into something unforgettable. Even though I was not out with my friends that evening, that spring day was no longer just another ordinary day. It became a memory I would never forget.
