A smile that made a difference

Once upon a time, a princess named Isabella lived in a wealthy royal family. Her father was the king of England. She had two older brothers. Their names were Theo and Mark. The two brothers were twins and were 24 years old. They were both tall, handsome but very arrogant. Isabella was the youngest. She was only 18 years old. She was a beautiful, kind lady. But she was always the ignored sibling. Her mother died when she was 15 due to lung cancer. Her mother was the most supportive person she had. Her father was awful to her since her mother died. He just favoured Theo and Mark. She had her mother's blue eyes which always reminded her father of the pain. So he often avoided her. One day in spring, she was walking peacefully through the castle's garden. Isabella loved flowers. She spent half her days picking flowers and seeding them. As she was taking her walk, a guard informed her that breakfast was ready. She thanked him and went inside to a dining room. The dining room was red and gold themed. There was a long table where at the head, of course, sat the king. Her brothers were already eating. Not bothering to wait for her. She greeted them but got a snarky comment back by Theo telling her to shut up and eat. She sighed and sat in her chair and ate quietly. The king raised his head and looked at his two sons. He said he had to make a decision about which one of them would end up as a future king after him. The boys immediately started arguing about who was better. Isabella just remained in silence and ate her soup. The king silenced the boys with a loud yell. Theo scoffed and muttered mean things under his breath. Mark just rolled his eyes, got up and left but not before slamming the doors behind him. Theo left quickly too, annoyed and angry. Now it was just Isabella and her father. Isabella tried to start small talk but got interrupted by a strict order to be ready at 10 am. She was confused at first but agreed. "10 am", she thought. She was wondering what it was about. She got ready and at exactly 10 am she went downstairs to the main living room. She saw her brothers and her father standing there. She was confused and asked about what was going on. The king said he was awaiting an important person. She nodded and stood by him. Suddenly, the king of Darrow Land entered. Darrow Land was far up north, ruled by the king whose father was a Greek god, Sparrow, the god of ice. The king of Darrow came to declare war. She was terrified immediately. Theo gulped, he might bare as brave but this definitely scared him. Meanwhile, Mark tried his best to show no emotion. Their father couldn't change his mind, so he put on a brave face saying he himself would win. The king of Darrow just smirked and informed that the war would begin the next day at noon, and with that, he walked out and left in his carriage. Isabella looked at her father in a panic asking if he was insane simply agreeing to war. Her father said to have hope and to stay safe. At night, she was pacing around her room when suddenly somebody knocked. It was her two brothers, they claimed they wanted to talk to her. She let them in. Theo looked at her and handed her a picture. The picture of her when she was a baby being held by their mother. She stared at that picture, tears welling up in her sharp, blue eyes. She looked up at Mark and asked if that was the end. Mark took her hand and told her that whatever was going to happen, him and Theo would make sure she was safe. She hugged both of her brothers, they hugged her back and apologized for always being mean to her. She of course accepted their apology. A little later, the boys went to get at least some sleep before war. When the war started she was hiding a lot in the castle while everyone else was fighting. One day, she peeked out to watch but saw her brother Theo down. She immediately ran to him and cried while begging him to stay alive. But Theo just smiled at her. A smile that made a difference. And told her to go to the dungeons and told her a code. He said she needed to go to save herself and not to worry. She nodded in tears before running back to the castle and towards the dungeons. She was always forbidden to visit the dungeons before. She put the code in and went inside. Suddenly, she saw the dungeons turn into an apartment and... her mother was there! Alive! Isabella gasped and stood there like frozen, staring at her mother. The queen told her that it was her and that she never really died. Isabella ran up to her and hugged her tight, crying. After her mother calmed her down, she explained her that she was hiding there because some people were after her. The princess asked who knew she was alive and the queen told her that her father and her brothers knew. Isabella's eyes widened and asked why they lied to her. Her mother said it was only for her good. Isabella and her mother talked for hours before the father walked in and declared that they won the war. He saw his daughter's mad expression. She was angry because everyone was lying to her. Her father got on his knees, begging for forgiveness for everything he did to her. She forgave him and hugged him. Together with her mother and father they went back upstairs and saw both of the brothers! She gasped again! She was looking at Theo and said she thought he was dead. It turned out he was badly wounded and got healed quickly. She hugged them both. The family lived happily ever after.
