Once upon a time there was a small town. In that town an act of kidness was a rare thing to find. It was a naughty, cruel, you might even say the most terrible place of all time. It was a town in wich people didn`t greet each other. People there hated each other, everybody was on their own and they never said sorry in their entire lives. That town was called Grayville. However, among all that cruelty and grayness there was one little heart left which was still glowing.
Meet Sandra - she`s a little girl who helps evryone but never gets a thank you. One night Sandra was looking out of her winow, and she saw how cruel the town she lives in reality is. Some kids were destroying the snowman her young neighbor had made. They were kicking and smashing until there was nothing left but a poodle. Sandra was furious and decided to change something somehow. So, the next day she tried to explain to her classmates to be kind to each other, help each other and be greateful, but nothing seemed to work. She went home crying because she couldn`t change anything. Then she remembered her grandmother˛`s words:
"My dear, it only takes one candle to change the shape of the dark."
So Sandra decided to be that candle - she looked out of window and saw her classmates playing. It was snowing and everybody was playing on their own. Then she noticed her young neighbour trying to rebuild his snowman. Sandra`s sparkle was alive - she knew what to do. She grabbed a carrot from the table and ran to that little boy rebuilding his snowman. His name was Tom. Sandra started helping Tom and he didn`t seem to mind. Together, without saying a word, they rebuilt the snowman and used Sandra`s carrot for the nose. Tom smiled.
"He needs some hands and a hat", he said.
Sandra smiled back. As she turned around to find some branches, there was a little girl standing in front of her.
"Here, you can use my grandparents` hat , said the little girl
All of a sudden Sandra`s classmates were picking up branches and building snowman`s hands. Everybody was bringing something for the snowman - a scarf, some stones for the buttons and the mouth, even some hay for his hair .When they were done, something hit them. It was that feeling of warmth when you help somebody and see them happy. Their hearts were still glowing - Sandra`s sparkle turned into a fire. The next day the kids were playing with each other hapily. When Sandra opened her door, she heard laughter. She saw little Tom and some of her classmates cleaning in the park. Some adults were there too and they were talking to eech other. She felt the warmth all around her - it seemd as if it could be a peacful and wonderful winter for all of them.
Who would have thought, that one carrot can make such a difference and turn grayness into greatness.
