(TOPIC:) One small act of kindness - (TITLE:) Kindness can always put a smile on everyone's face

The day started like any other day at school. My alarm rings at 5 am, and I start getting ready, already tired before the day has even started. School was the same as always... hallways filled with kids, and kids running to get to classes and then a long lesson started. I was bored and probably not listening. Nothing about that day felt important or different.

After school I started walking home. The streets were crowded, people going to work and some of them going home, a lot of cars speeding past without slowing down. I walked on the sidewalk, looking around... as I reached the crosswalk... I looked around, my mind stuck on homework and what I have to study when I get home. Suddenly I saw an elderly woman standing near the curb. She is holding her bag and looking around at the fast cars. She was scared to cross the road, people passed by her without stopping. I stand there for a second and then step forward and ask her: "Hello ma'am. Do you need help crossing?" She looks at me and smiles nicely "Oh yes dear, thank you!" When the light turned green, I helped her get to the other side. After we crossed it, she thanked me a lot and handed me a box of warm and sweet cookies saying: "I baked these cookies this morning. Please take them as a thank you" she smiles sweetly, I tried to refuse but she insisted. I thanked her and continued home holding the cookies. I felt good not beacuse of the cookies but that helping her felt right. When I got home, I told my grandma what happend. She smiled at me and told me: "I'm so proud of you... that woman was probably so thankful." The next day... the same as always... I'm heading home, looking around and all of a sudden I see a little girl crying, she looked scared and worried. I quickly walked over to her and sat next to her "What's wrong? Where is your mommy?" She was crying and tears fell down her cheeks. "Mommy...", she says quietly, I looked around hoping to see anyone that's searching for her, I spotted a woman looking worried and she was looking around, I walked over to her with the little girl and the woman put her hands on her chest "Oh my God! You scared me so much! I thought you were lost!" I stood there and said "I found her crying by the Cafe". The woman smiled at me and nodded. "Thank you so much! You're such a sweet person" I smiled, I remembered I had a little toy in my bag so I gave it to the little girl ... She was happy and so was her mom. I nodded and walked away saying bye. I came to my house and as before entering the front door, I picked some flowers for my grandma and mom, they were so proud of me.

That night I got to bed and my bed felt like a fluffy cloud. Sometimes, one small act of kindness is all it takes to make a difference - always remember that.
