Croatian Association of Teachers of English

First Meeting of the Zadar Branch of HUPE

The inaugural meeting of the Zadar Branch of HUPE was held on 27 November, gathering members and colleagues for a productive three-hour professional event. The session opened with a warm welcome from Ana Džaja, the newly appointed President of the Zadar Branch, who also presented HUPE News, offering participants an overview of current association activities, upcoming events, and opportunities for further involvement.

This was followed by “The Art of Presenting: Key to Speech Confidence”, delivered by Fani Kotarac, who provided valuable strategies for building confidence, improving public speaking, and delivering effective classroom presentations.

Next, Silvana Rados led “Članak to Go: From Idea to Publication”, a hands-on session guiding participants through the process of developing an idea into a polished written piece suitable for publication in school magazines, as well as school webpages.

The program concluded with “Pause, Breath, Teach: Mindfulness for Teachers” by Daria Paro and Simona Atlaga, a calming and practical workshop focusing on simple mindfulness techniques that educators can apply both personally and in their classrooms.

The first meeting successfully set the tone for future gatherings—encouraging collaboration, supporting professional growth, and fostering a motivated local HUPE community in Zadar.

See you again in the spring!
