Marjorie Rosenberg: Making your lessons memorable

Biography:

Marjorie Rosenberg has been teaching English as a Foreign Language in the adult sector since 1981 in Graz, Austria. She has worked in a number of companies, taught at university and carried out teacher training sessions throughout Austria, Europe and the United States. Marjorie is also an active conference presenter and has given plenaries at over 30 conferences world-wide. Active in the field of publishing, Marjorie has written several methodology books on learner preferences and course books as well as books with photocopiable activities in the field of business English. Marjorie is the current Joint-Coordinator of IATEFL BESIG and served as IATEFL President from 2015 – 2017.

Abstract:

There are a variety of ways in which you can make your lessons memorable in order to help your learners take valuable information with them when they leave your classroom. In this plenary we will look at a number of practical ideas to help you liven up your lessons, make them fun, relevant, engaging, and creative so that both you and your learners feel you have gotten the most out of the face-to-face or online time you spend together.

BLOOMSDAY CELEBRATION

The Embassy of Ireland in Croatia will celebrate Bloomsday on Saturday morning, June 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Around 10:30 a.m. there will be Irish traditional music and dance performed by Drowsy Lizards and Emerald Steps at Cvjetni trg (Preradovićev trg). At the end of their session, there will be an opportunity to learn a few moves from the Emerald Steps. To complete the morning celebration, we will head to the Bogdan Ogrizović city library, where the Joyce: Global Odyssey exhibition will be set up, where Professor Aidan O'Malley will give a short speech about James Joyce. We hope you will be able to join us for the celebration.

If you wish to apply for the upcoming 32nd HUPE International Conference, the application process will be open from 1 May until 15 July 2024. You may submit your proposals during that period by following the steps below. Any proposal submitted after 15 July will be placed on the reserve list.
