Once upon a time there lived a language teacher ...
The role of language teachers has changed throughout the modern history of language teaching. This plenary will take its audience back through time to review the diverse ro les of language teachers in the past as well as current ones. The story of language teachers is as varied as the methods and techniques which mark language teaching. Today teachers face many challenges both within and outside of the classroom. How do teachers see themselves today? What motivates teachers to be 'good' language teachers? What resources can teachers use to help them in their profession? As the story of language teachers unfolds, colleagues will be encouraged to reflect on their own teaching experiences in an effort to encourage both professional and personal growth.
